natalie

Hometown: Aurora, CO

School: University of Colorado-Boulder, Biochemistry and History

How I found out about the mission: I met Fr. Mark at SEEK in San Antonio and he convinced me!

What made me sign up: I have never been on mission and have always wanted to go! I also love that SOLT has a permanent community in Belize so that there is always support and love growing in the local parishes.

What I am anticipating to receive from this experience: I hope to make new friends, learn some Spanish, and experience joy, joy, joy!!!

What I am most excited about: I am SO excited to meet the kiddos and be able to spend time with them. Jesus makes himself known so well in the little ones!

Hometown: Magnolia, TX

School: Stephen F. Austin State University, Kinesiology (graduate May 13th! Woo!)

How I found out about the mission: Sr. Mary Elizabeth invited me!

What made me sign up: I desire to not only serve, but to serve uncomfortably... and to learn to be comfortable serving uncomfortably.

What I am anticipating to receive from this experience: Hopefully a clearer direction and a bit more insight to the vocation God is calling me to.

What I am most excited about: I am so unbelievably pumped to see the way that SOLT operates. I just want to be with them while they do their thing.

Elena

Hometown: Castle Rock, CO

School: Graduate student in speech-language pathology at New Mexico State University.

How I found out about the mission: My sister is going to school for Master’s in Theology at the Augustine Institute and received an email about this mission trip. I had been wanting to serve in a mission trip for quite some time, and finally the time was right.

What made me sign up: From a very young age I have always felt a strong pull towards being a part of something personable that would make others feel loved, significant and give them hope. This mission goes beyond that.

What I am anticipating to receive from this experience: I am looking forward to love and serve the people I meet and making lasting positive impacts in their lives of faith, as well as experiencing and discovering my faith in new and life-changing ways.

What I am most excited about: I am most excited to encounter Christ in the poor and in community throughout the trip, truly transforming lives thereafter. I am grateful for such an opportunity to live out the faith and make meaningful connections with the people we meet!

Hometown: Kansas City, KS

How I found out about the mission: I was informed about the SOLT missions from a teacher at my school who has spent time in Belize and is familiar with the organization.

What made me sign up: I have always been passionate about the latin culture and serving others, so this was a perfect match for me!

What I am anticipating to receive from this experience:  I am anticipating an incredible faith journey, supported by the local community and my fellow missionaries. I can't wait to serve them and experience their culture.

What I am most excited about: I am most excited for the immersion into a new environment, and all the factors that come with it, especially the food.

jesse

Hometown: Odem, TX

School: Del Mar College, Registered Nursing Program

How I found out about the mission: A very good friend told me about it

What made me sign up: The desire to one day be a missionary nurse when I graduate; I wanted to get a chance to see what a mission really is.

What I am anticipating to receive from this experience: I am anticipating getting as much as I can out of this trip. With it being the first thing I do after my first semester in nursing school, I am really looking forward to actually having the time and the atmosphere to just breathe and have one-on-one moments with God.

What I am most excited about: I am most excited about going out and actually experiencing the mission for myself. I love helping people, so I am looking forward to doing that, and to encountering the unknown and learning new things.

marcus

Hometown: Mora, NM

School: Central New Mexico CC, Biology

How I found out about the mission: I found out about the Mission Trip from my Aunt Simonita and the SOLT sisters from my hometown, Mora.

What made me sign up:  A big influence in signing up for the trip was my Aunt Simonita, who told me how rewarding it will be and an important lifetime experience.  Another reason I decided to sign up was because I enjoy helping people and that’s exactly what this trip is, to help people and to spread the word of God.

What I am anticipating to receive from this experience:  I’m hoping to gain an understanding of how the little things in life mean the most and how we always take them for granted and not as a blessing from God.

What I am most excited about:  What I am most excited about is having the opportunity to be able to go to another country and help people who are in need, and to experience what it is like to leave the country and see another way of life.

olivia

Hometown: Batesville, IN

School: Franciscan University; Education

How I found out about the mission: I knew about this particular trip through my brother who also went to Belize on mission.

What made me sign up:  I felt called to do a mission before I get a teaching position in order to give back to God for all the continuous blessings and love that he shows me everyday.

What I am anticipating to receive from this experience:  I am anticipating a great group of on fire Christians who are looking to dig deeper in their faith through the service of others. I am anticipating a lot of prayer, love, humility, and seeking from both the missionaries and the people.

What I am most excited about:  I am most excited to dig deeper in my faith and to meet the people. It's always exciting to see the areas God wants to push you in and what areas he still wants to see growth in when you empty yourself and seek him.

What made me sign up:  Wanting to help out others in need

What I am anticipating to receive from this experience: An eye-opening experience

What I am most excited about: To get out of the country and see how other people live and what I should be grateful for.

marcus

Hometown: Letts, IA

School: Loras College, Music and Religious Studies with a minor in Catholic Studies

How I found out about the mission: I found out about the trip while attending the SEEK conference in San Antonio this January.

What made me sign up:  I had forgotten about the trip after returning home, but Br. David sent me a message saying they were still looking for missionaries and I saw this as a possibly reminder from God.

What I am anticipating to receive from this experience:  What I am anticipating to get out of this trip is to grown deeper in my faith through service and to possibly get something which will help me discern my vocation.

What I am most excited about:  I am most excited for getting to help the people we encounter in Belize encounter Jesus!

aryana

Hometown: I'm from a little town called San Felipe in Guanajuato, Mexico.  Now, I'm a US citizen and I live in Midland, TX

School: Midland College, BS in Nursing

How I found out about the mission: I found out about this trip at SEEK Conference in January 2017

What made me sign up:  I always wanted to go on a mission trip, and I had this desire in my heart for a long time. So I just took a leap of faith hoping I was accepted.

What I am anticipating to receive from this experience:  To grow more in my relationship with God by serving others.  To learn from other people's journey and experiences in their life of serving. And to be part of a different beautiful community.

What I am most excited about:  I am excited about learning a different culture, to see other people's  way of living and to interact and share my faith with them.

Hometown: Robstown, TX

School: St. Mary’s University, Exercise and Sports Science with Teaching Certification

How I found out about the mission: Fr. Tony Blount, a SOLT priest who was my pastor at Saint Anthony of Padua back home, called and told me about it.

What made me sign up:  What made me sign up was, I think, that I finally had the courage. Through prayer I was able to say “yes” to what Christ has in store for me and how he will use me as a vessel for the people of his kingdom.

What I am anticipating to receive from this experience:  What I am really looking forward to is being able to make a special connection with the people of Belize that is unique and emphasizes the communion within the Society of Our Lady of the Most Holy Trinity.

What I am most excited about:  What gets me going is the mystery that I will be living. The mystery of what the Lord has not just in store for me but for the other missionaries that will be with me, and how we will use our gifts to be the hands and feet of Jesus.

Marissa

How I found out about the trip: I discovered this mission trip through one of my good friends, who will also be going on the trip!

What made me sign up: I have wanted to serve on a mission trip since forever!! Over the past few months I prayed about it a ton, as I felt something in my heart drawing me toward this act of service to the world. In March, I began looking into different mission trips online when I coincidentally ran into to my friend who told me about this one. Everything since then has fallen right into place!!

What I am anticipating to receive from this experience: I am hoping to gain perspective on how others throughout the world live and to make a personal connection with the people I encounter. I want to to inspire everyone I meet with the Word of God!

What I am most excited about: I am most excited about the different ways I will be able to serve the children, and to see how they are moved!
