OUR LAITY
The vocation of the lay faithful to participate fully in the evangelizing mission of the church was expressed clearly in the documents of Vatican II. As part of the grace of baptism, each member of the church is imbued with a missionary call: to proclaim the Gospel in his or her life, calling all to conversion.
Since her founding days in 1958, SOLT prophetically included the lay faithful as an integral part of both evangelizing work and common prayer. As well, laity share in the deep Marian-Trinitarian spirituality of the SOLT community.

OUR PRAYER LIFE
SOLT laity have varied expressions of their living communal life. Single members often live in houses for the lay faithful at SOLT missions; families generally have their own accommodations, but also go to mission and may stay in SOLT housing there for families.
The lay faithful are part of the SOLT ecclesial family team. Community meals, prayer and recreation become catalysts for deepening relationships across the vocations in SOLT. These relationships mutually enrich the lives and vocational call of each vocational path.

OUR APOSTOLIC LIFE
Vatican II expressed a charism unique to the laity: to sanctify the temporal order. In practical terms, this means that the lay faithful, when working “in the world” in the affairs of daily life, have a specific grace to bring the light of Christ and his salvific power. They are able to reach to areas where the priests and consecrated men and women cannot get. This presence of laity expands the efficacy of the SOLT ecclesial team to spread the Gospel our to the peripheries.
SOLT laity find themselves in a variety of ministries, ranging from direct evangelization and ministry to the poor, to the practical necessities of life such as administration and bookkeeping. In all these works, the sanctifying power of the Holy Spirit consecrates their works to the Father, to whom Jesus returns all things.
