SOLT PRIESTS & BROTHERS

In SOLT, the consecration of a religious brother takes on a unique nuance and character as expressed in the SOLT charism. The threefold dimensions of Marian-Trinitarian spirituality, serving on ecclesial family teams with the various vocations in SOLT working and interacting together, and reaching to those in deepest apostolic need, demarcate the specific identity of a SOLT consecrated brother and priest.

OUR PRAYER LIFE

Daily spiritual practices centered around the mass, holy hour with exposition, the liturgy of the hours, as well as weekly practices of lectio divina and spiritual exercises and sharings, facilitate continued deepening of the brother’s life in Christ. The interaction with the SOLT sisters and laity complement the vocation of the brother and enrich his life with deep bonds of friendship across vocations.

OUR COMMUNITY LIFE

As well, these relationships on the ecclesial team represent the unique catalyst through which the ministry of SOLT is carried out to God’s faithful. A particular love and comfort with the poor and marginalized is always found among the people with whom SOLT lives, identifies and serves.

OUR APOSTOLIC LIFE

Common life and brotherhood is a strong aspect of our lived consecration, as well as reaching to those most forgotten. SOLT as a community feels encouraged and confirmed by the emphases given us via Pope Francis to “go out to the peripheries”. In our missions we find the “pockets” of the underserved, ministries that are nonglorious, but in which are found treasures of God’s grace and love for those unnoticed in the world. Be it on an Native American reservation in North Dakota, on the border towns in México, Belize or Guatemala, with the migrant workers in the Midwest, or on small islands in the Philippines, SOLT members express to the poor by the testimony of their lives: “we will stay with you.”
